Where Do I Need To GROW UP? Part 6 Titus Two 2/11/24 Verses used parts 1-5::1 Peter 2:1-5, Rom 12:1-3, Heb 5:11-14, Heb 6:1-3, 1 Cor 3:1-4, Eph 4:7-24, Romans 8:1-14, Eph 5:8-17, Prov 10:17,12:1, 13:18,15:31-33, 1 Cor 13:9, Ps 40:8, Romans 10:14-17, James 1:22, Col 1:24-chp2:6, Matt 28:18-20, Titus 2:1,2 Heb 5:11 …“by this time you ought to be teachers” Titus 2:3- KJV 3 The aged (mature) women likewise, that they be in behavior (demeanor, not just actions, movements, speech, expression) as becometh holiness (as in sacred service, as a person consecrated, set apart and devoted to God for His use) (Adam Clarke: be adorned with holiness within & without) , not false accusers, (Diabolos- the devil Rev 12 accuser of the brethren, slanderer, spreading criticisms)  not given to much wine, (enslaved, intoxicated, drunkenness and impurity are closely related, Matthew Henry: don’t justify any excesses) teachers of good things; (be teachers of beautiful things TPT, right things) IS this something you want the next generation to DO AND INCREASE IN? 4 That they may teach (discipline, correct and make of sound mind) the young women to be sober (wise, self-regulated, un-intoxicated) , to love their husbands, LOVE= philadros –to be fond of, affectionate with as a wife, to be lovers of their husbands to love their children, PHILOTEKNOS- to be fond of, maternal   (2 tim 2 not having natural affection)(Barnes: Christianity reproduces natural affection when sin has weakened or destroyed it. It is the design of Christianity to recover and invigorate all the lost or weakened sensibility of our nature.) this could apply to maternal or paternal! 5 To be discreet, (self-controlled, using good judgment, curbing desires and impulses)  chaste, (pure in heart and in lifestyle)    keepers at home, (workers, not neglecting home, guardians of the house, managers of home- 1 Tim 5:14, Prov 31, 2 Tim 3:6)    good, (kind)   obedient to their own husbands, (put oneself under) EPH 5:21- Col 3:18,19   that the word of God be not blasphemed. (dishonored, reproach on the gospel)   6 Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded. (moderate, sound minded)   7 In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, (purity, honesty, genuine)   8 Sound speech, (logos-communication and what’s behind it)  that cannot be condemned; (doesn’t need censoring)   that he that is of the contrary part (antagonistic) may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.   LIVE to teach the gospel SO others will LIVE to teach the gospel THIS is MATURING

Part 5 What do They Need to Mature? 2/4/24 susan allen Verses used parts 1-4::1 Peter 2:1-5, Rom 12:1-3, Heb 5:11-14, Heb 6:1-3, 1 Cor 3:1-4, Eph 4:7-24, Romans 8:1-14, Eph 5:8-17, Prov 10:17,12:1, 13:18,15:31-33, 1 Cor 13:9, Ps 40:8, Romans 10:14-17, James 1:22 John Last week: we have ability to learn, gain knowledge, life will present an opportunity to apply what we have learned   Col 1:24-2:6 ESV Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church, 25 of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God that was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known, 26 the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints. 27 To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. 28 Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. 29 For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me. No matter where you are in your Christian walk…you are walking ahead of someone in some area of your faith.   Matt 28:18 KJV And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Titus 2:1-NIV You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine. (KJV: Speak thou the things which become sound doctrine) 2 Teach the older (aged, mature) men to be temperate (sober, not intoxicated, self-restraint, vigilant) , worthy of respect (grave, honorable), self-controlled, and sound in faith (rooted in sound Biblical doctrine), in love (agape)  and in endurance (patience). (the fruit of ripened experience. A life of faith that has developed patience) Maturity doesn’t excuse itself for what it doesn’t know, maturity desires to seek out and learn.  Where do I need to mature? Where do they need to mature? The truth is, we can complain or we can LEAD.

    I present my body, emotions and my mind to you and you alone Father God. When I choose your Word over my own thoughts and feelings, my mind is renovated and renewed. I say no to unhealthy thoughts and receive mental health in Jesus Name. Rom 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.   Father you gave me the power to be self-disciplined. You did not give me the spirit of fear but the spirit of POWER, the spirit of LOVE and a sound mind. 2 Tim 1:7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.   Father you are my mental rest. My mind and emotions gain strength when I am in your presence. I will take time with you today and you will give me rest. Matt 11:28-29 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.   This is a spiritual battle so I will fight it your way. Through you I can control my thoughts. I cast down any imaginations that are not from you by thinking and using my imagination to meditate on you and what your Word says about me. I take every thought captive by thinking and saying what your Word says. 2 Cor 10:3-5 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;   I cast the care and weight of this thing on you because you care for me and you carried this mental burden for me on the cross so I could be free. 1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.   You gave me your peace. I accept that peace now. I will not let anything steal my peace. John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.   I RE-JOY in you. I am thankful that you are near whither I feel it or not. I will not be anxious about anything because I am talking to you about everything! I am thankful for all you have done and are doing in my life. Your peace guards my heart and my mind. I get to choose my thoughts and I choose what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and worthy of praise. I will do what I know to do from your Word and your peace will be with me. Phil 4:4-9 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable — if anything is excellent or praiseworthy — think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me — put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.   I have the mindset of Christ because I HOLD His thoughts and refuse any others. 1 Cor 2:16 But we have the mind of Christ (the Messiah) and do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His heart.   I will set an atmosphere of praise so I can have an atmosphere of hope.  Ps 42:11 Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

    Where Do I Need To GROW UP? Part 3 & Review 1/21/24   Review week 1: KNOWLEDGE without APPLICATION is FOOLISH (James 1) R.Renner “Knowledge without application becomes boring and unfulfilling --every time” 1 Peter 2:1-, Heb 5:11-, 1 Cor 3:1-, Maturity: The ability to respond to the environment in an appropriate manner. This includes the ability to control emotions, act responsibly and consider the well-being of oneself and others. The ability to make well informed decisions. Review week 2 carnal or spiritual: Eph 4:10-, 1 Cor 3:1-3, Romans 8:6 Spiritual: non carnal, to live a life guided by the born again spirit. Regenerate (regrow-the ability to regrow new tissue to replace lost or injured tissue. To bring new, more vigorous life to something through something new. Reborn) Carnal: fleshly, un-regenerate, not changed, a life driven by the flesh Make two columns. One labeled Carnal, One labeled spiritual. God through these verses and put the “indicators” of carnal and spiritual into the correct column. Carnal: not growing, tossed (controlled by outward circumstances), easily deceived, imitate the life of unbelievers, unfruitful thinking, darkened understanding, separated Kingdom living, chosen ignorance, hardened heart, lost sensitivity, indulging in impurity, driven by lust, overriding convictions, holds on to old self, refuses strong Word, envy, strife, division, slow to learn, no understanding of righteousness, do not practice the Word they have heard, can’t distinguish good from evil,   Spiritual: growing, anchored in sound doctrine, speaks the truth in love, unity, active in the body of believers, imitates God, productive thinking, sees to be enlightened in the truth, partakers of Zoe life (God kind of life), pliable/teachable heart, sensitive to spirit, overrides the flesh, seeks to hear sound teaching, puts off old self, puts on new self, determined to mature, willing to take strong Word, able to teach (share), has an understanding of righteousness, practice the Word they’ve heard, can distinguish good from evil,           Where Do I Need To GROW UP? Part 3 What am I “MIND”ing? 1/21/24 Eph 5:1 Be followers of God as dear children Eph 5:8-NIV For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord. 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, 14 for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said: "Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you." 15 Be very careful, then, how you live — not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is. 18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.   Rom 8:1-KJV There is therefore now no condemnation (adverse sentence, verdict) to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh (live, occupy oneself with), but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned (judged against) sin in the flesh: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh (as a companion or votary), but after the Spirit. 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind (have their minds set on) the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit (have their minds set on) the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity (in opposition, hostile) against God: for it is not subject (submitted, responsive)  to the law of God, neither indeed can be. (the carnal mind can’t be if you are minding/submitted to the flesh)8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. (be agreeable)9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. 10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead (powerless) because of sin; but the Spirit is life (zoe) because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken (vitalize, make alive) your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.   12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify (kill) the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.   Walking in the flesh you will see your weaknesses but walking in the spirit you will see His strength The flesh does not like correction or direction Prov 15:31-33 He who listens to a life-giving rebuke will be at home among the wise. 32 He who ignores discipline despises himself, but whoever heeds correction gains understanding. 33 The fear of the Lord teaches a man wisdom, and humility comes before honor. Prov 10:17 He who heeds discipline shows the way to life, but whoever ignores correction leads others astray. Prov 12:1 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid. Prov 13:18 He who ignores discipline comes to poverty and shame, but whoever heeds correction is honored. Prov 15:12 A mocker resents correction; he will not consult the wise.   Do I know/understand what the WILL OF THE LORD is? then What am I “MINDING”?
