Work Scriptures Proverbs 10:4 Poor is he who works with a negligent hand, But the hand of the diligent makes rich. Proverbs 12:24 The hand of the diligent will rule, But the slack hand will be put to forced labor. Proverbs 17:2 A servant who acts wisely will rule over a son who acts shamefully, And will share in the inheritance among brothers. Proverbs 27:18 He who tends the fig tree will eat its fruit, And he who cares for his master will be honored. Leviticus 19:13b The wages of a hired man are not to remain with you all night until morning. Deuteronomy 24:14-15 “You shall not oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy, whether he is one of your countrymen or one of your aliens who is in your land in your towns. You shall give him his wages on his day before the sun sets, for he is poor and sets his heart on it; so that he will not cry against you to the Lord and it become sin in you. 1 Timothy 5:18 For the Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle the ox while he is threshing,” and “The laborer is worthy of his wages.” 2 Thessalonians 3:7-For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example, because we did not act in an undisciplined manner among you, nor did we eat anyone’s bread without paying for it, but with labor and hardship we kept working night and day so that we would not be a burden to any of you; not because we do not have the right to this, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you, so that you would follow our example. For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. Genesis 2:15 Then the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it. Col 3:17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Col 3:22- Servants, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not by way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord.Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. Col 4:1 Masters, treat your servants justly and fairly, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven. 1 Peter 2:18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the unjust. 1 Timothy 5:8 But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. Proverbs 14:23 In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty. James 5:4 Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, are crying out against you, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts. Hebrews 13:17 Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you. Psalm 128:2 You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you. Proverbs 13:4The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied. Proverbs 3:6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Leviticus 25:43 You shall not rule over him ruthlessly but shall fear your God. Eph 6:5- Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;7 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:8 Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.9 And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him. Phil 2:14- Do everything without complaining or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe Ps 128:1 Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in his ways. 2 You will eat the fruit of your labor;blessings and prosperity will be yours. Josh 1:8-Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 1 Thess 4:11-Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, 12 so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody. 1 Peter 5:5 Young men, in the same way be submissive to those who are older. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." 6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Prov 6:6- Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! 7 It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, 8 yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. 9 How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep? 10 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest 11 and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man. Prov 20:4 The sluggard does not plow when winter sets in; therefore he begs in harvest and has nothing. Prov 26:13- The hater of work says, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets. A door is turned on its pillar, and the hater of work on his bed. The hater of work puts his hand deep into the basin: lifting it again to his mouth is a weariness to him. The hater of work seems to himself wiser than seven men who are able to give an answer with good sense.
