10/20/24 – GET OFF The Path Of Least Resistance – Susan Allen
GET OFF the Path of Least Resistance 10/20/24 susan allen Num 13:25-NKJV 25 And they returned from spying out the land after forty days. 26 Now they departed and came back to Moses and Aaron and all the congregation of the children of Israel in the Wilderness of Paran, at Kadesh; they brought back word to them and to all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land. 27 Then they told him, and said: "We went to the land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. 28 Nevertheless the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large; moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there. 29 The Amalekites dwell in the land of the South; the Hittites, the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the mountains; and the Canaanites dwell by the sea and along the banks of the Jordan." 30 Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, "Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it." 31 But the men who had gone up with him said, "We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we." 32 And they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, "The land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature. 33 There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight." Chp 14:1 So all the congregation lifted up their voices and cried, and the people wept that night. 2 And all the children of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron, and the whole congregation said to them, "If only we had died in the land of Egypt! Or if only we had died in this wilderness! 3 Why has the Lord brought us to this land to fall by the sword, that our wives and children should become victims? Would it not be better for us to return to Egypt?" 4 So they said to one another, "Let us select a leader and return to Egypt." (they were choosing the path of least resistance) 5 Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel. 6 But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had spied out the land, tore their clothes; 7 and they spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying: "The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. 8 If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, 'a land which flows with milk and honey.'  9 Only do not rebel against the Lord, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the Lord is with us. Do not fear them." 10 And all the congregation said to stone them with stones. Now the glory of the Lord appeared in the tabernacle of meeting before all the children of Israel. 11 Then the Lord said to Moses: "How long will these people reject Me? And how long will they not believe Me, with all the signs which I have performed among them? The report they gave was not “evil” because of what they saw-It was “evil” because what they saw “UNBELIVED” what GOD had told them and what God had shown them.   Heb 3:16-niv 16 Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt? 17 And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the desert? 18 And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest if not to those who disobeyed?  19 So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief. 4 Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it. 2 For we also have had the gospel preached to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because those who heard did not combine it with faith.  3 Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said,"So I declared on oath in my anger, 'They shall never enter my rest.'" And yet his work has been finished since the creation of the world.
  1. Don’t saturate your eyes/senses with what the world is showing you
2 Cor 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) DON’T LET WHAT YOU SEE cause you to UNBELIEVE what God has TOLD you and SHOWN YOU GOD TOLD MOSES TO SEND THE LEADERS IN But HE DID not tell them to abort TAKING THE LAND because of what they saw
  1. Taking what seems to be the path of least resistance is not God’s best.
1 Tim 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
  1. NEVER give up entering into what God has promised you
It’s not FAR AWAY! IT exists! Josh 14:7-kjv  Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh-barnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart.8 Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God.9 And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children's for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the LORD my God.10 And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the LORD spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.11 As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.12 Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said.13 And Joshua blessed him, and gave unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance.14 Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite unto this day, because that he wholly followed the LORD God of Israel.15 And the name of Hebron before was Kirjath-arba; which Arba was a great man among the Anakims. And the land had rest from war.

    10/14/24 – Flourishing – Mark Evants
Flourishing Mark Evants Notes, Sunday, 10/13/24   Jer.17:5-8: Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs [heb turns aside] from the Lord. 6 For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, And shall not see when good comes, But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, In a salt land which is not inhabited. 7 “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord. 8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.
    • Lays out one of the strongest CONTRAST / COMPARISON life principles in scripture
    • It’s the tale of the cursed man VS the blessed man
IN A WORD:  HE FLOURISHES because of Who He is connected to:
    • Flourish: (def.) Grow or develop in a vigorous way
    • Grow luxuriantly
    • Biblical context of this word is Shaloam…a flourishing that encompases every facet of life and even the community and nation because of the covenant connection
Psalm 112:1-9: Praise[a] the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, Who delights greatly in His commandments. His descendants will be mighty on earth; The generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches will be in his house, And his righteousness [b]endures forever.  Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness; He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous. A good man deals graciously and lends; He will guide his affairs with discretion. Surely he will never be shaken; The righteous will be in everlasting remembrance. He will not be afraid of evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. His heart is established; He will not be afraid, Until he sees his desire upon his enemies. He has dispersed abroad, He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever; His [c]horn will be exalted with honor.
    • HE WILL FLOURISH!
Psalm 92:12ff: The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. [2 of the big image symbols – or BILLBOARDS – of flourishing used in OT]  13 Those who are planted in the house of the Lord Shall flourish in the courts of our God. 14 They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be [c]fresh and [d]flourishing, [Full of oil or sap, lit. fat15 To declare that the Lord is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
    • Flourish (HEB) = To flower, blossom, break forth, spread out; enter into a state of prosperity
    • To increase in wealth, favor and honor
    • To grow vigorously and exuberantly, enlarge and expand
    • To become extremely successful
One Thing God Knows: Your FLOURISHING is not attached to the things you have in life…they can’t give you joy and fulfillments…FLOURISHING has to do with WHO YOU ARE ATTACHED TO!     JC said it like this…SEEK 1st the KOG and all these other things will be ADDED TO YOU.   Land flowing with milk and honey…nonstop supply
    • 2 Sam. 5:10: So David went on and became great and the Lord of hosts was with him. [notice Lord of hosts…God of angel armies]
Psalm 72:5: [b]They shall fear You As long as the sun and moon endure, Throughout all generations. He shall come down like rain upon the grass before mowing, Like showers that water the earth. In His days the righteous shall flourish, And abundance of peace, Until the moon is no more.   Declare This Out Loud by Faith: My life is flourishing. My family is flourishing. My health is flourishing. My business is flourishing. My finances are flourishing. My church is flourishing. I am increasing in wealth, favor and honor. I am growing vigorously and exuberantly. I am enlarging, expanding and becoming extremely successful. I flourish. I prosper. I thrive in tough times.
