10/11/23 – One, Together Pt 2 – Susan Allen
Series: In Depth
ONE, Together part 2 WELL BALANCED 10/11/23 In Depth Rom 12:4- NIV Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. (amp-mutually dependent on one another)  6 We have different gifts (faculties, talents, qualities) , according to the grace given us. Vs 10: Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor (place a high value on, esteem) one another above yourselves.   1 Cor 12:14 TLB  14 Yes, the body has many parts, not just one part. 15 If the foot says, "I am not a part of the body because I am not a hand," that does not make it any less a part of the body. 16 And what would you think if you heard an ear say, "I am not part of the body because I am only an ear and not an eye"? Would that make it any less a part of the body? 17 Suppose the whole body were an eye-then how would you hear? Or if your whole body were just one big ear, how could you smell anything? 18 But that isn't the way God has made us. He has made many parts for our bodies and has put each part just where he wants it. 19 What a strange thing a body would be if it had only one part! 20 So he has made many parts, but still there is only one body. 21 The eye can never say to the hand, "I don't need you." The head can't say to the feet, "I don't need you." vs24... So God has put the body together in such a way that extra honor and care are given to those parts that might otherwise seem less important. 25 This makes for happiness among the parts, so that the parts have the same care for each other that they do for themselves. 26 If one part suffers, all parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad. 27 Now here is what I am trying to say: All of you together are the one body of Christ, and each one of you is a separate and necessary part of it.   THIS way of THINKING makes a healthy well-balanced BODY/team/home/workspace Different situations call for different giftings! Look for and VALUE what each person BRINGS to the table   Luke 5:1- NIV  One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, with the people crowding around him and listening to the word of God, 2 he saw at the water's edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. 3 He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat. 4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch." 5 Simon answered, "Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets." 6 When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. 7 So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink. 8 When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus' knees and said, "Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!" 9 For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken, 10 and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon's partners. Then Jesus said to Simon, "Don't be afraid; from now on you will catch men."  .   God wants to use what’s in you to build/strengthen the body of Christ   Rom 12:3 Amp  For by the grace (unmerited favor of God) given to me I warn everyone among you not to estimate and think of himself more highly than he ought [not to have an exaggerated opinion of his own importance], but to rate his ability with sober judgment, each according to the degree of faith apportioned by God to him.

    Series: In Depth
1 Cor 13-Taken from Rick Renner's Greek Word Study on Love Love patiently and passionately bears with others for as long as needed. Love doesn't demand others to be like itself; rather, it is so focused on the needs of others that it becomes what others need it to be Love is not ambitious, self-centered, or so consumed with itself that it never thinks of the needs or desires that others possess Love doesn't go around talking about itself all the time, constantly exaggeration and embellishing the facts to make it look more important in the sight of others Love does not behave in a prideful, arrogant, haughty, superior, snotty, snobbish, or clannish manner Love is not rude and discourteous---it is not careless or thoughtless, nor does it carry on in a fashion that would be considered insensitive to others. Love does not manipulate situations or scheme and devise methods that will twist situations to its own advantage Love does not deliberately engage in actions or speak words that are so sharp that they cause an ugly or violent response Love does not deliberately keep records of wrongs or past mistakes. Love does not feel overjoyed when it sees someone get what others perceive they deserve. Love rejoices only in truth Love protects, shields, guards, covers, conceals, and safeguards people from exposure Love strains forward with all its might to believe the very best in every situation Love always expects and anticipates the best in others and the best for others Love never quits, never surrenders, and never gives up Love never gives up its position of the highest level of love. Love will never disappoint
